Hi! My name is Marie Alvarado and I have been a teacher at Oak Grove for 19 years! Oak Grove has always been my second family. During my career at Oak Grove I have taught First and Third Grades. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education at Eastern Illinois University in 1998. I completed my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Illinois State University in 2003. I love to read, drink Starbucks and spend time with my family. My husband Nick and I have been married for 11 years and have two sons. Cooper is in fifth grade and Jacob is in second grade. The boys keep me busy! I am constantly going to practices or school events with my kiddos. :) As a working mom, I know how busy weeknights can be. I assign homework during the week but it is always due on Fridays. This way, because of your schedule, you can fit in homework on a night that works for your family. Sometimes it may not be a night of practices and you finally get to have a family dinner! :) I assign homework for extra practice and to create a structured time for schoolwork at home. :) It is never graded and shouldn't last more than 20 minutes. I am here to help in any way I can! I created links on this webpage so you and your firstie have valuable resources you can utilize in one place. I hope you find it useful!
